Privacy Guard is a security feature designed to
protect our internet banking customers from fraud and identity
theft. This feature is provided free of charge.
Privacy Guard allows customers to pick an image,
write a pass phrase and select three challenge questions. The
information is securely passed back and forth between American
Interstate Bank and the customer to confirm each other’s identity.
Using Privacy Guard is like getting a safe
deposit box that takes two keys to open. Before the customer and the
Bank agree to open the box together, they confirm each other’s
identity.
The first time you log-in to internet banking,
simply follow the instructions to sign up for Privacy Guard. Please
remember that once you activate Privacy Guard, you will not have to
complete several fields again.
After the initial activation, we will always
show your image and pass phrase before asking for your password.
Once you verify that the image and pass phrase are yours, you will
know that you are on the legitimate American Interstate Bank site
and not a “look alike” site. At the same time, if we do not
recognize your computer, we will ask you to answer one of your
challenge questions, to verify your identity and allow us to be sure
no unauthorized person is trying to access your information.
American Interstate Bank takes information
security very seriously and is committed to protecting your personal
information with us. That’s why we are adding Privacy Guard as an
extra layer of security for all of our online banking customers.
A list of the most frequently asked questions is
